Colorless diamonds are the most valuable, as well as stones with a blue, blue, reddish or greenish color.

The most solid stones after diamond. Their basis is crystalline alumina (corundum). Color is determined by presence of metal oxides. Rubies are red, sapphires are blue, sometimes there are red-blue or violet.

Pearls

This is a lightweight and soft stone, representing an ancient petrified resin of coniferous trees. Color of amber varies from bright - yellow to brown. Transparent amber with inclusions of insects or plant particles is especially precious.

Corals
These are petrified spines of marine invertebrate organisms - polyps. They are opaque, have different colors.
Agate

Translucent, diaphanous, rainbow (up to 20 shades), striped or laminated stone. A variety of agate, usually with black and white blotchiness, is called onyx.

Semiprecious stones include: aquamarine (blue-stone hues of blue, reminiscent of sea water), alexandrite (emerald-green color in daylight, violet-red - if artificial), amethyst (purple or bluish-purple) rock crystal ( transparent, colorless), opal (translucent, milk-white), topaz (colorless, wine, yellow, pink and other colors).

Though 2011 will see us move still further from the economic woes of recent history, don't expect a massive change in the tangent of fashion: the major excesses of the last decade are gone, and 2011 will see us, rightfully, continue on with a drive of subtle consumption mixed with obvious quality. 2011 fashion trends will accomodate the fact that we'll be buying less but spending more.
